CITY OF EASLEY GOVERNMENT

The City of Easley Operates under a Mayor-Council form of government. The Mayor is elected at large and the 6 council members are elected from wards to serve four year terms. Council members' terms are staggered so that three members are up for election every two years. Elections are held on the first Monday of November, in odd numbered years.

The Mayor and Council have appointed a City Administrator to run the day-to-day operations of the city and oversee the department heads.

A Message From the Mayor

Welcome to the website for the City of Easley, South Carolina. Our thriving municipality with a population of 20,000 is a lively and inviting community with a charm that interweaves the rich traditions of our past with the progress of the present. Easley is a city of energetic and forward looking people from all walks of life who are genuinely concerned about their community and how it grows and prospers. Easley has one of the most proactive, pro-business Chambers of Commerce in the state. Our aim is to make all citizens and visitors alike feel that they are part of and welcome in this community. With all of these attributes, I trust you too will find that Easley is a friendly and pleasant place to live, visit, work, and play. We are proud of our communities heritage and achievements and its potential for the future.

While being home to many fine eating and shopping establishments, Easley is not far from larger urban areas, only a car trip away from tourist areas like the Blue Ridge Mountains and we are only 5 hours from the South Carolina coastline. We have a notable recreation department that plays host to international sporting events like the Big League World Series. We are only minutes from several upstate colleges and universities. We believe Easley is the idea small city- large enough to provide excellent service but small enough to know and care about its citizens- a place where friends and strangers alike are greeted with warmth by all. Easley is the type of community where neighbors know each other and where the anonymity that characterizes many large cities does not exist. That is why our website's theme and focus is "all about Easley."

Sincerely,

Larry Bagwell, Mayor
